2019 Blanc De Gris

2019 Blanc De Gris

$55.00

This limited-production bottle of Oregon sparkling wine was hand-crafted from 100% Pinot Gris sourced from our Poverty Bend Vineyard Estate in Oregon's Willamette Valley. Primary fermentation for the base wine occurred in French oak barrels. In the traditional Champagne method, the wine underwent secondary fermentation and 3 years of aging in this very bottle. The result is a bright, energetically structured Oregon sparkling wine with classic Pinot Gris orchard flavors of golden delicious apples accompanied by gentle notes sourdough toast from the time spend on lees.

vintage

2019 proved to be a classic Oregon vintage. The nearly perfect weather that carried through veraison became sporadically wet as we moved closer to harvest. Thankfully the critical ripening days were punctuated by enough dry, sunny days to allow ripeness to accumulate. The skill and hard work of our vineyard crews to manage the September rains will show in the finished wines. While tonnage was down over recent years, the fruit came into the winery with balanced chemistry and noteworthy complexity.

about

Lundeen sparkling wines are hand-crafted with the full appreciation that the Willamette Valley has a superb climate for producing delicious and complex sparkling wines. Grapes are grown or sourced from select vineyards capable of ripening slowly enough to carry depth of aroma and flavor and retain enough natural acidity to produce elegant and distinctive sparkling wines.
