Bunker Hill Vineyard 2012 Blanc de Blancs (Next Disgorging Available Fall 2019)

Lundeen sparkling wines are hand-crafted with the full appreciation that the Willamette Valley has a superb and climate for producing world-class Method Champenoise sparkling wines. Grapes are grown or sourced from excellent vineyards that are capable of ripening slowly enough to have not only depth of aroma and flavor but retained enough natural acidity to produce elegant and distinctive sparkling wines.

This Blanc de Blancs represents the pinnacle of the Lundeen sparkling portfolio. This supremely elegant, detailed, and expressive wine shows the great heights that sparkling wine made from 100% Chardonnay is capable of. This wine spends no less than 40 months en tirage before riddling and disgorging.

Vintage Overview

2012 has become a modern classic vintage in Oregon. In general the crop was light thanks to cool weather the prior year combined with poor weather during spring flowering. The summer into the fall was very warm and dry which gave perfect, clean fruit at harvest. Normally, the combination of a warm summer and a light crop would be a recipe for overripe, high-alcohol wines, but a dramatic cool down came as fall approached and the harvest period was long with clear days and very cool nights, preserving some balance and freshness while achieving full ripeness easily.
