Bunker Hill 2014 Chardonnay

Bunker Hill 2014 Chardonnay

Lundeen Chardonnays are sourced from excellent vineyards that are capable of expressing the beautiful elements of Chardonnay in general as well as the unique characteristics which can only come from the Willamette Valley. In the winery, Lundeen Chardonnays are barrel fermented and aged in French oak barrels until just before the next vintage. Then they are moved to tank with the lees to harmonize before bottling in the winter. In this way we are able to accentuate the richness of the time on lees in barrel as well as keep the structure and freshness inherent in the fruit. Lovely aromas of lemon blossom and fresh toast merge seamlessly with the energetic yet smooth palate.

Vintage Overview

2014 brought one of the most ideal harvests in modern Oregon wine history. The summer into the fall was warm and dry which gave perfect, clean fruit at harvest. The onset of fall brought cool nights which allowed the fruit to ripen fully with lower sugar levels and still retaining vibrant natural acidity. This combination yields wines which are beautiful in their youth, yet offer tremendous ageability.
